Raw Feeding
Yes, my dogs eat raw meat and they love it!

When feeding raw the dogs must have bone with their meat.  I use chicken necks and backs as they
have a good meat/bone ratio and the price is inexpensive.  I also use chicken leg quarters, livers, &
gizzards.  Beef (hamburger, liver & heart) and turkey along with veggies such as sweet potatoes, green
beans, carrots, oats sometimes yogurt and cottage cheese of course left overs.  Beef bones to eat and
for recreation.

***Please do not feed cooked bones***

I give liver or heart a couple times a week if I have it and the veggies maybe once a week (just enough to
keep their stools regular).  They are carnivores you know.

It is best to start out with 2% of the dog's weight of food per day; example:  100 lb dog will eat 2 lbs per
day (puppies need more).  If the dog is losing weight increase his food and if the dog is gaining decrease
his food.  It's not hard.  After you have been feeding raw for awhile you will know just how much eat dog
needs.

Of course if you are feeding toy size dogs you might want to grind the chicken necks and backs.  You
might want to grind them for a large dog too, if it is a gulper.

When I have a litter of German Shepherd puppies they start trying to take mom's food away at 4 weeks.
I start them out with goat milk, maybe some oats, hamburger or turkey burger
and gradually add chicken necks.

A little about grocery store dog foods,

They are usually  the leftover stuff on the  floor after they make people foods.  They cannot sell it to anyone
else, but we feed it to our dogs?  (sounds good, huh?) You should know that corn is not a natural canine food
product (neither is soy or wheat).  Not only is it  cheap filler ingredients but, dogs stomach enzymes are not
designed to digest it.  So when you see it in a dog food as the top ingredient or in the top five ingredients, or as
an ingredient AT ALL, you should know that you are purchasing a product that is not food for your dog.  Also,
corn is a carbohydrate, think about what would happen if you fed a child  carbs all day?  You think it would sit
calmly by you playing or bounce of the walls?  Would it result in a lean muscular little child or would it result in a
chubby little thing?  This applies to dogs too!  They do need good carbs for energy, but they don't need mega
doses of it.

There are a lot of dog foods out there.  Puppy food, Large breed puppy food, toy size food..   Please choose
one wisely if you decide not  to go natural.

I bought a German Shepherd puppy a while back before I started feeding meat.  I bought what I thought was a
good quality food, a week after I had been feeding this food, the puppy could not even walk straight on his front
legs and they were shaking.   He was growing too fast.

My puppies grow slower, but that is better for their bones and joints.  They grow the way the are supposed to.
The adults are a healthy size without extra fat.  Shinny soft coats and pretty white teeth.

I am not an expert I have just found what works for me and my dogs.
