Raw Feeding
Yes, my dogs eat raw meat and they love it!

When feeding raw the dogs must have bone with their meat.  I use chicken necks and backs as they
have a good meat/bone ratio and the price is inexpensive.  I also use chicken leg quarters, livers, &
gizzards.  Beef (hamburger, liver & heart) and turkey along with veggies such as sweet potatoes, green
beans, carrots.  Sometimes eggs, oats, yogurt and cottage cheese and of course left overs.  Beef bones
to eat and for recreation.   I also add garlic, kelp, salmon oil and d.e. to their food.

***Please do not feed cooked bones***

I give liver or heart a couple times a week if I have it and the veggies maybe once a week (just enough to
keep their stools regular).  They are carnivores you know.

It is best to start out with 2% of the dog's weight of food per day; example:  100 lb dog will eat 2 lbs per
day (puppies need more).  If the dog is losing weight increase his food and if the dog is gaining decrease
his food.  It's not hard.  After you have been feeding raw for awhile you will know just how much eat dog
needs.

Of course if you are feeding toy size dogs you might want to grind the chicken necks and backs.  You
might want to grind them for a large dog too, if it is a gulper.

When I have a litter of German Shepherd puppies they start trying to take mom's food away at  about 4
weeks.
I start them out with goat milk, maybe some oats, hamburger or turkey burger, cottage cheese or yogurt
and gradually add chicken necks and backs.
Great books!
A little about grocery store dog foods,

They are usually  the leftover stuff on the  floor after they make people foods.  They cannot sell it to anyone
else, but we feed it to our dogs?  (sounds good, huh?) You should know that corn is not a natural canine food
product (neither is soy or wheat).  Not only is it  cheap filler ingredients but, dogs stomach enzymes are not
designed to digest it.  So when you see it in a dog food as the top ingredient or in the top five ingredients, or as
an ingredient AT ALL, you should know that you are purchasing a product that is not food for your dog.

Dogs, being carnivores have a difficult time digesting grains.  Animals that are supposed to eat grains and that
have a diet that primarily consists of carbohydrates have intestines two or three times longer than a dog's
intestine.  They often predigest their food while chewing it and they also have different enzymes  in their
stomach.  A lot of the protein in dog food is from plant protein such as soy, which can take a long time to digest.

Feeding your dog a raw diet that consist of; meat with bones, organs and fats your dog will digest this in a short
time (as opposed to  10 -15 hours if fed dog food) with very little waste and less odor.  So from me observing
their poop, (yes I look at their poop, you can learn a lot) I can see that they use all they eat.

There are a lot of dog foods out there.   Please choose one wisely if you decide not  to go natural.

My puppies grow at a good speed, one that is better for their bones and joints.  They grow the way the are
supposed to.
The adults are a healthy size without extra fat.  Shinny soft coats and pretty white teeth.

I am not an expert I have just found what works for me and my dogs.

I buy my meat in bulk:  40 lb boxes at a time of chicken necks and backs,  I also buy
chicken gizzards and livers in 20 lb boxes (can't get them in 40 lb boxes).
Sometimes  Turkey necks.  At a local meat house.  It is a whole lot cheaper this way.
